- Some baby cows are purposely deprived of milk and nutrients so that they may be used to make veal
- Sows are used only for breeding purposes. Their young are snatched away once born, and the sow is impregnated once again
- Chicken are genetically chosen and given growth stimulating drugs in order to produce large, fast growing chickens
